The Champions Trophy has come to an end and it was another moment of celebration for the Indian team who won two back-to-back ICC titles and also their seventh ICC trophy overall. It was a remarkable performance from the Men in Blue who won another trophy without losing a game.
Almost all the Indian players made vital contributions, especially India star all-rounder Hardik Pandya who took four wickets and scored 99 runs at a strike rate of 106.45 batting lower down the order. His quickfire cameos and vital overs with the ball proved how much of an asset he is to the team, especially during the crucial moments. The 31-year-old all-rounder has also opened up on his next targets going forward and has revealed that he can finally call himself a Champions Trophy winner, recalling how he failed to finish the job in 2017 against Pakistan.
“In 2017, the work was left. I could not finish the job back then, and I am very, very glad that tonight is the night where I can say I am a champion’s trophy winner. That sounds good. I think for me; this has always been about winning as many championships as I can. I did say it when we won in 2024: That is not done. I still need 5-6 more trophies. I am thrilled that one more is added,” Hardik said in a video posted by BCCI.
“The most important thing in my life and my cricketing journey is always how I can make sure my team can win, and it is very satisfying very calming pleased moment for me every time I step on the field somehow even if I don’t contribute my team win I think that’s the most beautiful feeling I have,” he added.

My next goal is the ICC T20 World Cup in India: Hardik Pandya
While talking about his goals for the future, Hardik also revealed that one of his future goals is the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2026 which will be taking place in India and Sri Lanka. It is safe to say that Hardik hopes to defend the title he has won in 2024 and played a huge role in the tournament.
“Everyone came out there and you know showed their class at same point of time the believe they have and which is exceptional I love games like this where everyone comes their put their heart out and I think I was for India I was for Bharat. The champion’s trophy is done. My next goal is the ICC T20 World Cup in India, lifting the cup,” Hardik concluded.
