Kamaru Usman may be doing his best to pretend Belal Muhammad doesn’t exist, but that’s not stopping “Remember The Name” from throwing down the gauntlet and challenging “The Nigerian Nightmare.”
Usman returned after a three year hiatus and three fight losing skid to defeat Joaquin Buckley in Atlanta. It was a dominant win that does a lot to dispel the idea of Usman as over-the-hill. Now many have thrown him right back into the title contention conversation, with Kamaru himself calling for the winner of current champ Jack Della Maddalena and next challenger Islam Makhachev.
That doesn’t work for Muhammad, who wants to fight Usman for dibs on the winner.
they got into a brawl. The bad blood is real, and the title ramifications are legit. Muhammad is the former 170 pound champion, Usman wants to earn a shot at the new 170 pound champion. One win after three losses and a long break just isn’t enough. Make Muhammad vs. Usman, UFC!
