Sources indicate PSG are increasingly prepared to accept a fee in that region as talks with Liverpool continue, with growing confidence on Merseyside that a deal is edging closer. The move is part of a wider pursuit: Liverpool are also chasing Barcola’s PSG teammate Ibrahim Mbaye in a potential double deal that could be worth upwards of £150million combined.
How PSG’s Asking Price For Bradley Barcola Has Moved
PSG initially wanted around £145million for Barcola, a figure Liverpool were unwilling to meet. That valuation has come down in stages since, first to around £125million, roughly matching the £125million Liverpool paid for Alexander Isak last summer, and most recently to around £120million.
A fee at that level would still rank among the most expensive transfers in Premier League history, but crucially would allow Liverpool to sign Barcola without breaking their own club transfer record. Reports suggest Liverpool’s ability to push their offers higher has been helped by fresh investment from a consortium involving Amazon founder Jeff Bezos becoming involved in the club’s ownership structure.
Why PSG Are Willing To Let Barcola Go
Barcola has been pushed down the pecking order under Luis Enrique after PSG added Mika Godts, Ferran Torres and Maghnes Akliouche to an already stacked frontline this summer. He already refused to extend his contract at the Parc des Princes after returning from the World Cup in July, a clear signal of his own intentions.
PSG have reportedly frozen both Barcola and Mbaye out of the squad entirely, with neither expected to play again until their futures are resolved one way or another, a sign of how seriously both sides now want this sorted before the deadline.
Where Liverpool’s Pursuit Stands
Liverpool have already agreed personal terms with Barcola, and the player himself has made clear to PSG that he wants to move to Anfield. Personal terms with Mbaye have also reportedly been agreed as Liverpool push to complete a genuine double raid on PSG’s attack before the window shuts.
None of this amounts to a confirmed transfer yet. PSG’s willingness to keep lowering their valuation is the key development, but Liverpool still need to formally match whatever figure the two clubs ultimately settle on.
