Ibrahim Zadran’s men will look to bounce back strongly after the disappointing performance in the first game. On the other hand, India would want to continue their domination and seal the series with a game to spare.
In the first T20I, Shreyas Iyer won the toss and invited Afghanistan to bat first. The Blue Tigers slumped to 43/5 in seven overs before Azmatullah Omarzai’s fighting half-century and a handy knock from Mohammad Nabi helped their team get to a respectable total of 156/8.
Shreyas Iyer used Shivam Dube, Abhishek Sharma, and Nitish Kumar Reddy in the fifth-bowler’s role. However, the move backfired as they conceded 59 runs in the four overs they bowled between them.
India chased down the 157-run target in just 13.4 overs, led by Abhishek Sharma’s 32-ball 82. Ishan Kishan also contributed in a match-winning 121-run stand off 53 balls. Mohammad Nabi took two wickets but there wasn’t enough runs to play with for the Afghan bowlers.
