Bernardo Silva has confirmed he will stay at Manchester City for the 2025-26 season.
The 30-year-old’s future at the Etihad Stadium has been a subject of speculation, with the midfielder set to be out of a contract in June 2026.
Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal have been linked with a transfer interest, but it appears Silva is going nowhere this summer.
In fact, the Portuguese is set for an enhanced senior role at the club, with manager Pep Guardiola naming him as the team’s new captain.
Silva said (per The Guardian): “This season will for sure be with Man City. I’m going to stay.
“I’ve had options in the past and this year but, like last year, this year my option is to stay at Man City.”
Silva has been a key figure in Man City’s success since joining the club in 2017.
The versatile footballer has bagged 71 goals and 72 assists in 404 appearances across all competitions, powering his side to six Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy.
Besides his attacking output, he has also been praised for his relentless pressing and defensive work off the ball.
The former Monaco star has been a regular in the team, rarely missing games due to injury.
Despite City’s struggles last season, Silva enjoyed a solid campaign in the Premier League, providing eight goal contributions in 33 appearances.
He posted 1.0 shots, 1.6 key passes, 1.7 tackles and 3.2 ball recoveries per game in the English top-flight.
City fans are likely to be happy that such an important player will be staying at the club next season.
