“This guy doesn’t like me? Okay, I don’t like him now,“ Lopes told Ariel Helwani. “I don’t have a relationship with him but I think this guy is jealous because I have great hair and he doesn’t. Bro, I’m chill with everyone, but this guy says he doesn’t like me; okay, I don’t like you too.“
Ahead of this weekend’s showdown, Silva offered to bet his entire fight purse that Lopes would not be able to land a single takedown. Sounds like easy money when you consider “Lord” has already been taken down several times in his UFC career, but Lopes passed on the offer.
”He talks a lot, but it’s okay,“ Silva said. ”This guy needs the money for him. This guy will need the money after the fight because he won’t win and won’t get his win bonus.“
The winner of Lopes vs. Silva is expected to top a very short list of eligible featherweight title challengers. That said, Silva may have a better chance of scoring the next crack at Alexander Volkanovski because “The Great” is coming off a decision win over Lopes at UFC 314 back in April.
