Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford came face-to-face earlier today (Fri., June 20, 2025) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at the conclusion of the kickoff press conference to promote their looming mega-fight, which is scheduled to go down on Sat., Sept. 23, 2025 inside Allegiant Stadium Las Vegas, Nevada, live on Netflix.
Canelo will be defending his undisputed super middleweight championship against “Bud” — who is the current WBA super welterweight and WBO interim super welterweight champion of the world — in what is one of the biggest boxing fights in recent memory.
And it’s one that promises to be entertaining if Turki Alalshikh has a say in the matter.
“Tom and Jerry” fights that have been happening more often than not, and upped the ante by revealing that he has implemented a knockout bonus for this fight.
“We will not have those anymore, that’s the first thing,” he said during the presser. “Second, for this fight and next fight we will have a bonus for a knockout.”
If that weren’t enough, the winner of the fight will be taking home a brand new belt that cost a whopping $188,000 to construct. Take a look:
Noticeably absent from the presser was none other than Ultimate Fighting Championship (CE), Dana White, who is currently over in Baku getting ready for his own event this Saturday. White was initially pegged as the head promoter for the fight, and while there were talks about potential changes in that regard he is still in line to promote the bout.
That said, it remains to be seen if the outspoken UFC head honcho will be present and the next couple of Canelo vs. Crawford pressers, which are set for New York on June 22, and then Las Vegas on June 27.
