Liam Livingstone joined Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for a whopping INR 8.75 crore during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The England all-rounder was released by Punjab Kings (PBKS) last month after serving the franchise for the past three seasons.
After finding a new home in the IPL, Livingstone spoke about the passionate fanbase of the Royal Challengers. The destructive batter also feels that playing at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, which is the home ground of RCB, will suit his style of play because the venue provides some of the best batting tracks in the IPL and the boundaries are also on the smaller side.
“The fan base is very passionate. It’s probably one of the biggest franchises in IPL… It’s a bit of a fresh start for me. I think Bangalore is going to be very good for my game. It’s a little bit smaller than some of the stadiums in India, certainly better than what Punjab was for me. Hopefully, my game should suit that place well,” Livingstone told Reuters.
Livingstone said that the RCB management was clever at the auction table and roped in some good players for the upcoming season of the cash-rich league. He also expressed his excitement as he is about to share the dressing room with the legendary Virat Kohli.
“I think we had a really good auction. We’ve got some good players, we picked up quite cleverly. There are a few people in that team I know really well, so I’m pretty excited to get out there as a group. Playing with the likes of Virat is going to be really cool,” he said.

I enjoyed captaining my country: Liam Livingstone
Livingstone captained England in the absence of Jos Buttler in the West Indies tour. The 31-year-old said that he enjoyed the experience of leading the Three Lions and called it a proud moment.
“I enjoyed captaining my country, it’s a very proud moment for anybody to do that … thankfully I’m fit at the moment and it’s great playing something that we love,” Livingstone said.
Livingstone has amassed 939 runs from 39 IPL games at an average of 28.45 and a strike rate of 162.46. He has registered five half-centuries, including a highest score of 94 off 48 balls against Delhi Capitals last year. Livingstone will want to help RCB win their elusive first-ever title.
