Manchester City are set to deal in goalkeepers this deadline day before the transfer window officially slams shut this evening.
City have been big spenders on their outfield squad this summer with more than €176.90million spent by manager Pep Guardiola.
One of those deals, though, saw big cash being spent on goalkeeper James Trafford who arrived from Burnley in a deal worth around £30m.
The Englishman has not had the best start for the club since he was signed and he was criticised heavily following City’s 2-0 defeat at home to Tottenham on matchday two due to a few unforced errors.
Trafford is still viewed as the number one but that could all change now that the Citizens are closing in on two major pieces of business between the sticks before the window shuts.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is on his way out of PSG and will join City before 7pm.
Manchester City double goalkeeper transfer
City want Donnarumma and have been in talks with his club as well as his reps for a number of weeks ever since there was a fallout between club and player.
Donnarumma was left out of PSG’s UEFA Super Cup Final squad vs Tottenham earlier this season and that caused a rift between both parties that signaled the end of the Italian’s time in Paris.
With the 26-year-old joining City that would leave Guardiola in a bit of a pickle considering numbers.
However, it appears as though City are also looking to send one of their stoppers out the door to accommodate the European Championship winner’s arrival.
Ederson has been wanted by Galatasaray this window and the Brazilian has been prepared to make the move away from the Premier League to join the Turkish giants so long as a deal could be agreed between both clubs.
Donnarumma and Ederson swap clubs in transfer window
And now, again according to Romano, the move has been given his famous “here we go” treatment earlier this afternoon.
However it will not be to Gala, as confirmed by the Italian journalist.
No, instead he will sign for their league and divisional rivals Fenerbahce.
Romano posted the reveal on his social media channels earlier today, writing: “Éderson to Fenerbahçe, here we go! Verbal agreement in place for Brazilian GK to join Fener.
“Fee around €13/14m to Man City for Éderson and as also personal terms are agreed with his agent Jorge Mendes and director Devin Özek.
“Up next: Donnarumma and City.”
Ederson made 372 appearances for City in his years there.
