AS Monaco have provided an update on Paul Pogba’s recovery and future involvement, with manager Sébastien Pocognoli stating that the 32-year-old’s return to training is becoming clearer.
The former Manchester United and Juventus star has been sidelined since a calf injury in early December, limiting him to just over 30 minutes across three substitute appearances in Ligue 1 since joining the club last summer.
Speaking after Monaco were knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain, Pocognoli outlined a defined plan focused on reintegration.
Paul Pogba Monaco Injury Update and Limited Appearances
Pogba joined Monaco following a two-year doping ban and has struggled with fitness since his arrival.
His brief cameos came off the bench, but the calf issue sustained at the start of December has kept him out of action entirely, with no first-team training involvement in recent weeks.
He remains off the radar as recovery continues, and neither Pocognoli nor CEO Thiago Scuro has previously given a firm return date.
The prolonged absence has added to the challenges of his high-profile comeback in Ligue 1.
Sébastien Pocognoli on Paul Pogba Return Timeline
In a press conference covered by Get French Football News, Pocognoli said: “It is becoming a bit clearer” regarding Pogba.
He continued: “We hope to see him in training with us again before the international break (end of March). And then we will build something positive during this period.
That is what is planned and we hope that we will manage to keep to that. He is focused […] everyone has a plan and his is well defined.”
This suggests a potential return to competitive action in April if the timeline holds, with the focus on gradual build-up during the international window.
Monaco Plan for Paul Pogba Reintegration
The well-defined plan emphasizes getting Pogba back into first-team training soon, ahead of the March international break, to allow positive development away from club fixtures.
Pocognoli stressed that Pogba remains committed and focused on the team.
While no exact debut date is set, the comments indicate optimism for progress after months of setbacks, aiming to integrate the experienced midfielder effectively into the squad.
Outlook for Paul Pogba at Monaco
With his contract running until 2027, Monaco are prioritizing Pogba’s recovery to unlock his potential following the difficult start.
The outlined plan provides a roadmap for his return, offering hope that the former star can contribute meaningfully in the coming months and rebuild his career in the Principality.
