”King” banked a $25,000 finishing bonus for her destruction of “Gabby,” which she can now put toward a pair of matching gloves. Turns out O’Neill was sent into the Octagon with two left-handed mitts, which had little effect on her ability to compete after 18 months on the sidelines.
The victory pushed O’Neill, 28, to 6-2 under the UFC banner.
“When I got into the back to take my photos, we realized that both of my gloves were left-handed gloves,” O’Neill told Ariel Helwani. “So I somehow fought in two left-handed gloves. They said it’s never happened before because they usually come pre-packaged so I guess that might be my new thing now, I’m gonna fight in two left-handed gloves every time. I had no idea, I hadn’t fought in a long time, we just put them on and we went out there and then when we got in the back we realized. Somebody messed up but it made me win better. I kept them!”
