The Indian cricketers humorously jabbed at Vaughan, who had suggested that the tournament’s scheduling favored India both logistically and otherwise.
Vaughan, renowned for his unabashed opinions, was quick to acknowledge India’s performance, posting that India fully deserved a place in the final, labeling them the “preeminent team” of the tournament. However, he subtly hinted at the challenges posed for England on low, spin-friendly pitches like the one at the Providence Stadium, while highloghting India’s prowess on similar surfaces.

Meanwhile, Jaffer, known for his banter with Vaughan on social media, shared a humorous video featuring a child in a bid to pull Vaughan’s leg. He queried his well-being following England’s devastating loss, which dashed their hopes of defending their title.

Coming to the match, India was put into bat after Jos Buttler won the toss and elected to field. Despite early blips involving Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant, the boys from Mumbai, skipper, Rohit Sharma, and the dynamic Suryakumar Yadav orchestrated strategic knocks, contributing vital scores of 57 and 47, respectively. Their performances were instrumental in India reaching a competitive total of 171/7. Leg spinners, Adil Rashid and Liam Livingstone, stood out, conceding a mere 49 runs combined in their eight overs.
Despite the depth of the formidable English batting lineup, the chase was anticipated to be challenging against a well-rounded Indian bowling attack. What was poised to be an intriguing run-chase turned into a collapse for the batting order, with scores of 25, 23, and 21 marking the highest achieved. Left-arm spinners, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, claimed three wickets each, while pace-bowling spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah, added two more scalps to his tally.
