European Championship 2024: November qualifiers preview

The qualifiers for the 2024 European Championship will reach their conclusion in November and there are still a ton of issues to be decided.

The hosts Germany are guaranteed a place in the tournament, while England, France, Belgium and Portugal have also qualified.

Spain and Scotland have progressed from Group A, while Turkey and Austria complete the nine teams who are certain to play at Euro 2024. This leaves another 15 places up for grabs.

Twelve of those will be decided when the group stage is complete, with the final three places on the line when the play-offs are staged in March.

Group C is undoubtedly one of the most intriguing sections, with reigning champions Italy in danger of failing to secure automatic qualification.

They face North Macedonia at home before visiting Ukraine in their final game and need four points to ensure they qualify alongside England.

Netherlands are the favourites for the 2024 European Championship qualifiers in Group B, and should get the job done ahead of Greece.

Ronald Koeman’s side face Republic of Ireland (H) and Gibraltar (A) in their final two games, while Greece still have to play group winners France (H).

Turkey have secured their place at Euro 2024 in Group D, leaving Wales, Croatia and Armenia battling for second spot.

Wales are level on points with Croatia with two games remaining against Armenia (A) and Turkey (H). Croatia still have to face Latvia (A) and Armenia (H).

While Rob Page’s side have their fate in their own hands having taken four points off Croatia in their two meetings, they cannot afford to be complacent.

Four teams can still qualify from Group E – Albania, Czechia, Poland and Moldova – and they will all fancy their chances of booking a place at Euro 2024.

Albania visit Moldova in their penultimate game, before hosting group minnows Faroe Islands, while Czechia will face Poland (A) and Moldova (H).

Hungary and Serbia are the top two teams in Group G and should qualify, although they can both mathematically be overhauled by Montenegro.

Group H is another section where there could be some twists and turns, with Slovenia, Denmark and Kazakhstan still in with a chance of qualifying.

Denmark and Slovenia face each other in their next outing, while Kazakhstan host San Marino – games which could leave the group balanced on a knife edge.

The Danes visit Northern Ireland in their final match, while Slovenia host Kazakhstan in an encounter which will likely generate a sizeable audience on football streaming sites.

Switzerland and Romania look well placed to qualify from Group I, although Israel could still have a say with games in hand on the top two.

Portugal have romped home in Group J, while Slovakia should grab second spot ahead of Luxembourg and Iceland.

A point against Iceland would be enough to send Slovakia through, but they also have the safety net of a final group game against Bosnia & Herzegovina (A).

Matchday 9 of the Euro 2024 qualifiers takes place from November 16-18, while Matchday 10 is scheduled for November 19-21.

Twelve teams will contest the Euro 2024 play-offs in March. These will be selected based on their performances in the 2022/23 Nations League.

There will be six semi-finals on March 21 and three finals on March 26, with the three winning teams in those games completing the line-up for the tournament.
