Ben Doak is poised to make a £25million switch from Liverpool to Bournemouth this weekend.
The talented 19-year-old was prepared to be in Arne Slot’s squad for this evening’s Premier League opener, ironically against the Cherries, at Anfield.
However at the eleventh hour Andoni Iraola’s side swooped in an attempt to take the Scotland international to the Vitality Stadium and it is believed to be a deal close to being completed.
Ben Doak set to earn Liverpool mega profit with Bournemouth transfer
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports the whopping fee the Reds will receive considering they brought him to English football from Celtic back in 2022 for cross-border compensation and a number around the £600,000 mark.
That represents an incredible bit of business from Liverpool who will make a significant profit on the playmaker who made just 10 appearances for the club in all competitions.
He was an unused substitute against Crystal Palace in last weekend’s Community Shield Final which the Eagles won via a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in normal time.
Ben Doak’s Middlesbrough loan stats
Doak spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough where he played 24 times in the EFL Championship under Michael Carrick who was a big fan of the wide man.
During his time at the Riverside, Doak found the net three times and provided seven assists in all competitions.
Boro were believed earlier in the year to be interested in revisiting another deal for Doak which would have been another loan.
But sources revealed to FootballBlog this week that there would only ever be a permanent exit waiting for the kid.
Doak suffered an injury for Middlesbrough during his stint there which required surgery and prevented him from featuring after January.
Manager Slot has already moved to bring in a number of fresh faces suggested by the recruitment team with Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Hugo Ekitike and Milos Kerkez all now at the club.
Other transfers Liverpool hope to make in summer window
The Alexander Isak saga continues while Marc Guehi is favourite to join up with Slot and his squad if they can crack a deal with Palace to bring in the centre-half.
Another possible signing could be Paris Saint-Germain attacker Bradley Barcola who would be an alternative to Isak should Newcastle United and their boss Eddie Howe stand firm in their desire to keep hold of the Sweden star.
Isak was accused of bad behaviour and blasted by Ally McCoist who claimed the frontman had thrown his toys out the pram as he demanded a move to Merseyside.
