Dominik Szoboszlai has challenged his Liverpool teammates to produce the biggest comeback of his career when they face Paris Saint Germain at Anfield on Tuesday night.
The Reds head into the second leg of their Champions League quarter final trailing 2-0 after a difficult night in the French capital.
Despite the deficit, the Hungarian midfielder is adamant that the tie is far from over.
Szoboszlai rallying call for Liverpool
Speaking ahead of the game, Szoboszlai made it clear that the squad is prepared to go all in to secure a place in the semi finals.
He said: “It will be one of the biggest comebacks in my career, probably. Especially with Liverpool against Paris in the quarter-finals of the Champions League after [being] 2-0 down. I can say it will be the biggest comeback of my career.
“We are speaking every day between each other. Obviously the first game is tomorrow. We didn’t speak as much about Everton than maybe about Paris, because after the Paris game, it was Fulham.
“It wasn’t Paris. We always look game by game because the first job is tomorrow and we have to give really our best. From tomorrow on we can think about Everton, which is a big game for us, a derby away [from home] going for the Champions League spots, so we have to be ready as well for this.
Anfield factor key for Liverpool vs PSG
Liverpool are no strangers to overturning first leg defeats at home.
Szoboszlai pointed to earlier results this season, such as the victory over Real Madrid and the emphatic 4-0 win against Galatasaray, as proof of what the team can achieve at Anfield.
He also took a moment to address the supporters directly.
Following a recent misunderstanding with fans at the Etihad Stadium, the midfielder offered an apology and emphasized how much the Anfield crowd means to the players.
He believes the atmosphere will be the deciding factor in the Liverpool vs PSG second leg.
According to Szoboszlai, who is in talks of signing a new Liverpool contract, it will not just be about the eleven players on the pitch.
He expects the entire stadium to play a part in intimidating the visitors.
He said that the players know what it feels like to play in front of these fans and they do not need any extra motivation for a game of this magnitude.
Tactical shift expected for Liverpool vs PSG
While Szoboszlai remained tight lipped about the specific tactical changes Arne Slot might implement, he confirmed that the approach will be different from the first leg.
The Reds were largely frustrated in Paris, but the midfielder suggests they have learned from those mistakes.
The schedule is relentless for Liverpool, with a crucial Merseyside derby against Everton looming on Sunday.
However, Szoboszlai insisted that the focus remains entirely on the Champions League for now.
He stated that the first job is to give their absolute best against PSG before they even begin to think about domestic responsibilities.
The message from the Liverpool camp is clear: they intend to leave everything on the pitch.
Szoboszlai concluded by saying that as long as they give their all, they can keep their heads high, but he truly believes a massive opportunity awaits them under the lights at Anfield.
