The Public Integrity Project, based in DC, has filed an “emergency application for a preliminary injunction” to stop the entire event from happening. The firm argues that this event was given the green light without necessary congressional approval considering the White House grounds and the Ellipse are federal land and fall under national park usage guidelines. If the court issues an injunction, this would essentially be an order not to proceed, and any violation of that would land the perpetrators in contempt. Will this have any effect at all? If past is prologue – probably not. But it’s at least interesting and worth keeping an eye on, in my opinion.
